Mindful Eating The second of my Kitchen Conversations

Mindful Eating The second of my Kitchen Conversations

This is the second of a series of short videos where I talk about being over 50. All filmed in my kitchen. This conversation focuses on what we eat, with a focus on Mindful Eating. I share the struggle I have with trying to eat ‘sensibly’ and how I find it hard to limit my eating of tasty snacks. Once I start, I find it hard to stop. What can help is Mindful Eating. Taking the time to savour every mouthful. It takes time for our brain to recognise that we have eaten something, so eating more slowly, and taking time for it to register is a good approach to take. I talk about how eating mindfully is going to be much better for us all than crash dieting – yes, we can lose weight quickly, but we can regain it quickly too.

I want these videos to be personal, to take a personal approach, sharing things that I think may be relevant for you.
If you find it easy to maintain your weight, you may not need to think about mindful eating, but there may be another area where more focus would help. It could perhaps be drinking a little too much or another stressful habit. Or this may help you to understand a friend.

I’m going to create regular kitchen conversations on a wide range of topics so if there is anything you would like me to talk about, let me know.

And you can watch the first of the Kitchen Conversations here.

My message to you is

  • Think about an area you would like to change – like eating less
  • Pay attention to your activity – such as eating
  • Notice the change

I hope this has inspired you in some way and you are now encouraged to act. Feel free to comment below.
