Health and Fitness at 50Plus – The first of my Kitchen Conversations
Health and Fitness at 50Plus
This is the first of a series of short videos where I talk about being over 50. All filmed in my kitchen. This conversation focuses on Health and Fitness at 50Plus. I talk about why I’ve gone back to having a personal trainer rather than just to coast along. Sometimes we need to push ourselves.
When I lose the bulk of my excess weight and moved from 19 stone to 12 stone, I was going to the gym 6 times a week. I did exercise such as deadlifts, squats, and lunges. But I can’t do them anymore. Partly because I’m 7 years older.
This can be disappointing; I can’t do what I used to do. It can be dispiriting to compare myself to others who can do more than me and to the me I used to be.
I’ve got to stop comparing myself with others, and how I used to be. I’ve got to be the best I can for now. I need to tell myself that I worked out as hard as I could – I did my best.
Bit also I must be kind to myself. Its fine to work hard but if I got a twinge I spoke up and we made adjustments. No point making myself worse.
My message to you is
- Are you playing it safe?
- How could you challenge yourself?
- Set yourself goals but do them for you. Don’t compare yourself to anyone else
Aim to be the best version of you that you can be.
And whilst I talk about Health and Fitness at 50Plus this could also be about any aspect of your life, and it’s good to do a wider review.
I hope this has inspired you in some way and you are now encouraged to act. Feel free to comment on any goals below.
