Are we part of the Saga Generation? A kitchen conversation

by | Kitchen Conversations, Turning 60

I created this video after someone told me that she wasn’t part of the Saga Generation and it got me thinking – who is?

I wondered if she was thinking of people like my mum and dad. People who retired and relaxed, it was time for them – to go on cruises, play golf, do the crossword … are they the Saga Generation?

For me and I’ll be 60 next week, getting older means that I can carry on doing most things that I’ve done in the past.
Now some people want to grow old disgracefully, others more gracefully. Some want to be serene; others want to get out there. We are all different and I don’t think that we should be lumped together
For me it’s about disrupting peoples view of what getting older is.
What about you? What are you doing that makes you disrupt peoples view of ageing?

In the video I refer to a quote, here it is, and I don’t see why this couldn’t be referring to my view of the saga generation!
love this quote

Wow! What a Ride!
Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming Wow! What a Ride!
Hunter S. Thompson, The Proud Highway: Saga of a Desperate Southern Gentleman, 1955-1967

I’ve got lots more kitchen conversations, feel free to watch them all and let me know what you think. If you comment, I’ll reply! Last week was all about stepping outside your comfort zone and you can watch it here.
