Deciding to lose weight

by | Health & Wellbeing

As we get older it can be harder to keep our weight in check. It’s easy to decide to have an extra piece of cake, glass of wine, skip the gym session and before you know it you are a stone or more above where you want to be.

I’ve previously lost over 10 stone in weight (147 pounds) but since breaking through the 12-stone barrier in December 2013 I continually battle with gaining a stone and a bit and losing it.

I’ve got choices, and you do too – relax and feel happier, heavier or decide to make a change that will last.

The way I lost most my weight, following a Paleo diet – low carb, real food, one treat meal every 5 days worked for most of my weight loss but it didn’t work for the final 14-20 pounds, and this is the weight I struggle with.

But, ever determined, and having tried meal replacements, and the 5:2 diet, I’m now on a 30-day fat loss challenge, led by Scott Baptie. As he says, it’s what we look like what’s most important, and how we feel, not a figure on the scale.

I started on Monday 13th March 2017 and next Monday I’ll provide a review of this first week. What I can say is I’m eating well 3 meals and 3 snacks, of proper food. Today I had

  • Avocado on 2 slices of wholemeal bread for breakfast
  • Chicken and salad for lunch
  • 2 oat cakes with peanut butter for a snack
  • Pork casserole with rice and green veggies for tea
  • Yoghurt with blueberries and linseed for supper

Plus, I have a further snack I could have had, but as I only went for a walk rather than do a weights session at the gym, I’m aiming to skip this.

I feel tired, probably due to cutting out sugar. I’ve also not had alcohol or cheese or butter.

I’m determined, and a weekly post will hold me accountable. Till next time, Denise x
